Ohio plant. T e company formed earlier this year when two Cleveland-area companies, Avalon Castings and Precision Metalsmiths, merged. T e Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Avalon CEO Doug Ciabotti said the location was outdated, neglected and sales had been declining for the past 10 years due to equipment neglect and an unfocused approach to the marketplace. Avalon Precision Metalsmiths has three plants and a total of approximately 300 employees. It is an investment caster serving pump and valve customers such as Parker Hannifi n, Caterpillar and Boeing.

T e printer is designed for on-demand remote production. Instead of shipping castings around the world, raw materials are shipped and fi les are transmitted to 3D printers in strategic locations. Palmer will provide heavy-duty mixers, powder feeders, system controls and other peripherals to complete the system. ABB is the robot partner. Viridis3D & Palmer are accepting a limited number of metalcasters as BETA sites.

T e new service area will bridge the gap in its service areas from the Pacifi c Northwest to Mid America regions.
