Waupaca Foundry Recognized as Top Supplier Waupaca Foundry received the
2014 Supplier Recognition Award from Linamar Corporation for be- ing the top supplier in the castings commodity category in terms of quality, delivery, service and support.
Linamar, a leading global precision machining supplier of automotive, off-highway and industrial products, recognized Waupaca Foundry and other top suppliers at an awards ceremony on May 15 at Linamar
headquarters in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. “We want to recognize our key
strategic suppliers that help us move forward in our industry,” said Caryn Bell, director of purchasing for alu- minum and iron castings at Lina- mar. “Waupaca Foundry is a great partner for us and has helped ensure our parts are manufacturable by be- ing aggressive on value analysis and value engineering which resulted in cost savings.” Waupaca Foundry has been sup-
plying Linamar Corp. with gray and ductile iron castings for more than 20 years. Castings supplied include differential cases, housings, bedplate and covers. In addition to gray and ductile
iron, Waupaca Foundry also pro- duces compacted graphite iron cast- ings at its six facilities across North America. ■
Navistar Shutters Indianapolis Casting Facility
Navistar International, Lisle, Ill.,
closed its metalcasting operation in Indianapolis June 30. Initially announced in December 2014, the closing is expected to reduce costs by $13 million a year. The workforce at the 60-acre
facility, which produced engine blocks and heads for Navistar engines, has been cut from 160 employees to just 20. The company will turn to suppliers to acquire the necessary engine castings. “Closing a facility is a diffi cult
decision because of its impact on the many great people who’ve been part of our company,” said Persio Lisboa, president of operations. “We will treat people with dignity and respect throughout this process.” T e metalcasting facility ceased
pouring operations in late June. Navistar spokesman Steve Schrier said the company has yet to decide what will happen to the site.” ■
