Problem I. Black will have excellent drawing chances if he wins the h5-pawn, but Naka- mura has other plans: 38. Rg6+! Kf7 39. Rg5! Kf6 40. f4!, Black resigned. Power chess by Naka. Black will lose the rook after 41. Kg3. Problem II. It appears that White has excellent drawing chances due to the limited material, but the Ukrainian GM finds an incredible tactical resource that instantly squashes White’s hopes. 51. ... c3! 52. Bxc3 It looks like Black has blundered—52. ... Bxc3 53. Nxd5 hxg3+ (53. ... Kxd5 54. gxh4) 54. Kxg3 Kxd5 55. Kg4 Bf6 56. h4! is a the- oretical draw. But Eljanov has something quite different in mind: 52. ... Bxe3+! 53. Kxe3 g4!! Unbelievable chess geometry! 54. gxh4 gxh3, White resigned. Simply incred- ible. The pawn cannot be stopped.
