Joan DuBois Celebrates 45 Years with the USCF November 12, 2014 marked the
45th anniversary of Joan DuBois’ (center in photo) hiring with the USCF. The milestone was celebrated on May 12 at the USCF’s Crossville office with Executive Director Jean Hoffman (left) and USCF President Ruth Haring (right) in attendance. Joan is currently an Affiliate Relations Associate and handles our Tournament Life announce ments and advertisements. When Joan applied back in 1969, the job ad had no business name and
mentioned working with charts and graphs. She called for an interview and thought they said “chest federation” which was perfect for her dreams of working in the medical field. Joan arrived for the interview and saw it was the U.S. Chess Federation with which she was totally unfamiliar. She said she didn’t think the job was for her, but the interviewers said they liked her smile and she was hired. The rest is USCF history. Thanks to Joan for her years of service to the USCF!
Francisco Guadalupe Named National Events Director
After serving as Interim National Events Director, Francisco Guadalupe has now been hired as the National Events Director. Guadalupe has previously served as Interim Executive Director for the USCF prior to the hiring of Jean Hoffman.
