From the Field: Green Valley (Ariz.) Chapter The Green Valley Chapter (gree
nvalleymoaa.org) donated 30 tur- keys and 30 commissary gift cards to be distributed to members of the 162nd Fighter Wing of the Arizona Air National Guard for Thanksgiv- ing. The program, called Turkeys for Troops, is an annual project for the chapter. Funding this year came from a grant from USAA.
Southwest Virginia Chapter Members of the Southwest Virginia Chapter (
moaaswva.org) participat- ed in the seventh annual Virginia Veterans Parade in downtown Roa- noke Nov. 5, 2016. Chapter mem-
bers Col. Tom Dazell, USMC (Ret); Lt. Col. John Wagner, USA (Ret); and Capt. Gary Powers, USN (Ret), rode in a vintage 1948 Navy Shore Pa- trol jeep during the parade, which was televised locally.
Northern Arizona Chapter The Northern Arizona Chap- ter (
moaa.org/chapter/northe rnarizona) participated in the Prescott, Ariz., annual Veterans Day parade Nov. 11, 2016. The theme of the parade was Women in the Military, and female chapter partici- pants, former servicemembers, active duty officers, and ROTC cadets from Embry-Riddle Aero- nautical University represented on the float the past, pres- ent, and future of the military.
Northern Arizona Chapter members joined former servicemembers, active duty officers, and ROTC cadets from Embry-Rid- dle Aeronautical University to participate in a Veterans Day parade in Prescott, Ariz.
War veteran Ben Kinel at the College of the Ozarks. Kinel, a Marine Corps veteran, is the 19th recipient of the award. He is known for founding and maintaining the Veterans Memorial Garden in Branson, Mo. The True American Hero Award
