board of directors. “Serv- ing as a member of this board for the past six years and as chair- man for the past two years, to put it mildly, has been tremendously re- warding and gratifying,” Robertson said. Atkins began his brief
by showing the “Why Join MOAA?” video* and praised former MOAA President Vice Adm. Norbert R. Ryan Jr., USN (Ret), for being recognized in 2014 with a HillVets 100
award as an outstanding president/CEO of a non- profit association. Atkins then discussed his work to strengthen collaborative relationships on Capitol Hill and with The Military Coalition; adjustments made as a result of the BUR; efforts to increase membership and engage councils and chapters; up- dates to the MOAA Mili- tary Family Initiative; and association goals for 2017. “We’re finishing 2016 with improved focus and
a clearer vision of the es- sential elements of our success: supporting strong people programs — despite many competing national priorities — and continuing our work to attract and re- tain the next generation of military officers and their families as lifetime MOAA members,” Atkins said. The meeting concluded
after Robertson declared 11 new officers elected to the board. Members also were invited to ask questions and offer comments.
