52 MILITARY OFFICER MARCH 2016

To provide you the most valuable and relevant information, MOAA’s Business Systems Department strives to learn more about every association member. By Julie Huebsch

I love data — collecting it, storing it, reporting on it, and, most of all, help- ing other departments use it in a way that brings the most value to each MOAA member — which is a good thing because I’m MOAA’s director of Business Sys- tems, a department that’s all about data. I hope you’ll tell me about yourself.

Are you an active duty officer, a retired officer, a former officer, or the surviving spouse of an officer? Were you promoted recently? Have you moved to a new home? Are you married? Now, I bet you have a question for

us: “Why do you want to know so much about me?” It’s simple. We want to pro- vide the best, most personal membership experience we can to each individual MOAA member. We value your com- mitment to MOAA, so we don’t want to waste your time or clutter your mailbox or inbox with information that is not relevant to you. We would rather add value to your life with information, products, and services you find helpful. But we can’t do that if we don’t know who you are. Here are some examples. If we know

your birth date, we will send you our very popular and informative publica- tion Aging Into Medicare and TRICARE For Life when you turn 64½ to help you prepare for the transition to new medical coverage when you reach age 65. If we know your spouse’s name, we included tear-off postcards on this magazine’s

cover for your spouse to send to Con- gress. And should you predecease your spouse, we automatically will transfer your membership to her or him with full benefits. I recognize sharing personal data is an action of trust, and I assure you, MOAA does everything possible to keep your data secure. We also value your privacy. We do not sell or rent our members’ data, and we do not share our members’ email addresses — not even with business partners who provide insurance or other member benefits. There are two easy ways to share

your information with MOAA. If you’re digitally inclined and you’ve shared your email address with us, you can access your member profile through MOAA’s Web base. Just log in, click on Account, and then click on My Profile Info. You’ll be able to modify your mail- ing address, update your military rank and status, add your spouse’s informa- tion, change your Web username or password, and much more. Or you can call MOAA’s Member Service Center at (800) 234-MOAA (6622) and speak to one of our friendly member service rep- resentatives who will do all the work for you.

I look forward to getting to know you better. MO
