Digital Science is calling for anyone with an innovative research software idea to apply for its Catalyst Grant of up to £25,000
T
he London-based company has a track record of supporting technology in research
and is offering funding and resources to encourage ideas to help improve scientific research. Te next submission deadline is 30 June. Te Catalyst Grant is an
international initiative to support the innovation of new soſtware tools and technologies for research. Te programme nurtures and invests in early stage ideas in the novel use of information technology in research, with an award of up to £25,000 for the most promising ideas to aid science and research. Steve Scott, Digital
Science’s director of portfolio
development, said: ‘It’s a challenge to find investors that really understand the scientific research space. Here at Digital Science, we want to improve the research landscape and our Catalyst Grant of up to £25,000 / $30,000 helps get these types of ideas off the ground. We have deep knowledge in this arena and our grant offers a service beyond just writing a cheque.’ Applicants need to send a
proposal of a maximum of 1,500 words (with diagrams) including the following: lA description of the product or innovation;
lAn explanation of how it would benefit scientific research;
lBackground information, including competitor information;
lA timetable for its development; and
lA budget breakdown and how you would spend the funds.
Meanwhile, Digital Science has revealed the latest winners of its Catalyst Grant award: Figures, HackScience and HipDynamics have each been awarded grants. l Figures: New York, USA – a workflow solution to
