“The remedy for misleading speech, or speech we do not like, is more speech, not enforced silence.”

W
hy is the topic of our food such a taboo subject? Answer: Most do not want to know the reality of what they eat. Ignorance is bliss still exists
for many. Why am I addressing this controversial topic? Because I care! I care about you and the whole planet. I care that we, consumers, can still be fooled by deceptive marketing. More than ever before, the term Caveat Emptor
(latin: Let the Buyer Beware) is crucial. Beware: The word “natural” on labeling does NOT always constitute a healthy product.
There is a trend for “Meatless Mondays.” Well, that’s a start. Better: “Meat on Monday.” Skip all the other six days. In my opinion, if you must eat animals, do so sparingly—and with the utmost gratitude. With each bite you take, bless the poor cow, pig, chicken for the pain they endured to bring their fl esh to your plate. And after that, pray for your own digestive system!
Do you believe “You are what you eat?” If so, no wonder we have rampant mental and health issues. When you consume meat from a hormone- and antibiotic-pumped animal—not to mention their anti-depressants—how is it possible to feel healthy?
Do yourself—and your loved ones—a favor. Check out
www.AnimalVisuals.org and take action at
www.aspca.org/OpenTheBarn. You will see which U.S. states support ethical farming and oppose the Ag- Gag law (“Whistleblower Suppression” law which threatens journalists who report on how meat, dairy and eggs are really produced). Way to go, Idaho! (See p.17) No more Ag-Gag laws! These laws are dangerous for the animals and us, their consumers.
On a positive note: Think about how nice it would be to get enough sleep and wake up daily in an Agrihood. It is all possible! Many of us are sleep-deprived, and we don’t realize how this lack can impact every part of our lives (p.20). Developing an Agrihood takes more work—and worth it (p.34). Will you join me?
Make better choices—and Feel Good about what you consume!
For your health and our blessed animals,
