more and more reliant on and obsessed with all things tech— cell phones, laptops, tablets, computers— the medical community is noticing the fallout. Many health experts are fi nding that teenagers are suffering from conditions they normally didn’t diagnose in patients until their sixties. This is due to prolonged and repetitive forward head posture from staring down at their gadgets for many hours a day. It’s called “tech neck” or “text neck” and it’s a real problem today. Several things will help to minimize the damage of tech neck: limiting screen time, taking frequent breaks, stretching your neck and shoulders, and being conscious of your posture. Try to keep your phone or screen at eye level with your shoulders back and chin level. Dr. George Taussig, D.C. of Longwood Center for Healing, also offers a quick, gentle way for relief from chronic neck pain and tension called The Stretch. This stretch of the trapezius muscle resets your whole body from head to toe. The tension and pain go away, and your posture will open up and restore over time. Awareness and prevention are key to maintaining a healthy body; however, sometimes you need a treatment to assist in your healing. To learn The Stretch technique, Dr. George W. Taussig, an intuitive energy healer and licensed Chiropractic Physician, will offer two seminars: Jan 12 2:00-3:00pm and Jan 19 6:00-7:00pm. Longwood Center for Healing is located at 163 E. Lake Brantley Dr., Longwood, FL 32779. Space is limited. To reserve your space, call 407-590-9336.
