There is certainly no shortage of musical talent or energy within Wales’ capital city. With a dazzling array of artists, bands, DJs, promoters and venues located in Cardiff, the music scene is thriving. Which local venue hosts unforgettable club nights? Who is Cardiff’s greatest DJ? Do you know a musician who deserves special recognition?
The aim of Cardiff Music Awards, set for 30th March 2017, is to celebrate the city’s musical dynamism by rewarding the achievements and success of organisations and individuals who have helped enhance Cardiff’s unique and vibrant music scene. Independent judges (to be confirmed) from the local Cardiff area will help decide who wins each award. The scoring system for the nominations will combine both the judges’ criteria and votes from the general public. There will be up to 26 different awards up for grabs. Ed Townend (founder of Cardiff Music Awards) officially launched the awards in 2015 ‘to recognise the talent in the scene’. Various issues prevented the 2016 awards ceremony from taking place but Ed is confident that the enthusiasm and momentum behind the Cardiff Music Awards in its 2017 relaunch will ensure its success. Voting for the Cardiff Music Awards is open until 10th February 2017. For more information visit
