Opos, BPO and debt collection In 2008, he founded Opos – an acronym of Our People Our Systems. Opos is a provider of debt collection and BPO services in the banking, utility, telecoms and retail- finance sectors, providing consumer and commercial collections expertise to a number of key clients. Through Mr Dawson’s leadership, Opos


has worked to maintain a commitment to excellence; innovation with an ethical approach to collections being the culture and mantra of the business. He is proud to be a leader in ensuring

Kapama, debt purchase In 2104, he established Kapama as a separate legal entity for the purchase of niche debt portfolios. All collection processes of the purchased debt are outsourced to Opos.

Vulnerability Registration Service Most recently, he has also become a director of the Vulnerability Registration Service (VRS) – a platform whose sole purpose is providing vulnerable consumers with a single reference point for recording their personal circumstances at a given point in time when they are looking to protect themselves against further debt or related financial problems. He was invited to join the VRS primarily


due to his technical background, however his broader business background across operations, sales, and marketing is also helping support the business. He points out: “At Opos, we were the


first collections agency to offer vulnerable customers the option to be registered at the VRS and the first agency to fully integrate their vulnerable-customer process with the VRS. “We are also one of very few collections


agencies to truly demonstrate our own partnership approach by delivering complete transparency through our customer and client portals. “We have a presence and background in


both consumer and commercial collections with full FCA permissions. We have white

label and BPO experience, and have shown continuous innovation, particularly around digital engagement and our vulnerable- customer proposition.”


Personal Despite being heavily involved in all four businesses, his biggest focus is his family. “My family is my main driver; my wife and I have two children under two who are my biggest pleasure and achievement.” He also has a personal attachment to his


businesses having run Opos and DDI for 10 and 13 years respectively. This includes the people with whom he works. His longest standing employees have worked with him since he started the businesses. “I enjoy the professional relationships I


have built up over the years,” he says “and I am fortunate to work with some of the best people in the industry.” He is certainly a busy man, but also a man


who is driven to succeed both in business and his personal life. He has a great zest for both and this means exciting times ahead with business opportunities and for the Dawson family. CCR
