Editor’s note T
Welcome to the April issue of ACR News
his time of year, just as the weather starts to warm up, is when we celebrate the people, products and businesses in our industry. T e ACR News Awards
take place later this month, and last month the IOR released its 2024 list of Fellows which can be found on page 18. Also in this issue, Greg Cliff ord of AL-KO Airtech UK reveals
how building managers can make a big diff erence on their HVAC system’s carbon footprint and therefore their bottom line by combining AHUs heat pumps, while CIAT’s IAQ champion Matthew Maleki discusses what is needed to ensure optimum air quality and energy effi ciency in non-domestic buildings. As a population, we have become increasingly aware of the environmental impacts of our actions and the circular economy. Lawton Tubes and the Copper Sustainability Partnership (CuSP) have teamed up to look at the importance of proactive sustainability and the responsibility of merchants in supporting a circular supply chain within the industry on page 24. Our interview this month is with Ralph Davies, head of sales at Carrier Service, who reveals more about Carrier’s lifecycle approach to service and maintenance with its connected services through Abound HVAC Performance. When it comes to domestic applications, there can be some uncertainty. Neil Wooldridge from Toshiba explores the diff erences between the IEC 60335 and EN378 standards and sheds light on their scopes, objectives and key requirements.
I hope you fi nd this issue informative and interesting. 2024
