PRODUCTS ENCLOSURES & AIR MOVERS NEW SIZES ADDED TO DOOR ENCLOSURE RANGE

Two new sizes have been added to Hylec-APL’s IP65-rated DED range of rugged door enclosures. Available with solid or transparent doors, these measure 400 x 175 x 500mm and 600 x 260 x 800mm and feature liquid gasket seals that ensure IP65 protection is maintained, even when the doors are repeatedly opened and closed for regular access. The range itself is now available with models

ranging in size from 200 x 300 x 130mm high to 600 x 800 x 260mm. They are supplied with a galvanised steel back plate, external mounting brackets and a lock and key as standard. External wall brackets further simplify installation, yet they do not compromise the overall IP rating. Applications are said to be varied, and include industrial control and automation, holiday home consumer

units, HVAC, lighting, plus much more. Hylec-APL

www.hylec-apl.com ENERGY EFFICIENT OUTDOOR COOLER

Laird has developed an air-to-air outdoor cooler that protects critical telecommunication cabinets, energy storage systems and back-up battery systems. Small and energy efficient, the AA-480 Series thermoelectric assembly (TEA) is suitable for new and retrofit mobile base station and cell tower projects. This offers 480W cooling

power and a Coefficient of Performance (COP) rating of one. It has been designed to pass rigorous Telcordia test requirements for outdoor environments, and the gaskets, connectors and fans provide a NEMA 4 seal for the enclosure. With a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +55°C and robust, steady-state construction, the AA-480 outdoor cooler is tested up to 100K power cycles. It uses impingement flow to transfer heat, and offers dependable, compact performance by cooling objects via convection. “The AA-480 Series outdoor cooler uses less

energy and takes up less space compared to similar units,” said Anders Kottenauer, senior vice president of Laird’s Engineered Thermal Systems Business. “Our AA-480 Series also requires less maintenance, cutting the total cost of ownership as well as the time spent travelling to and from these sometimes remote locations. In addition, the cooler improves the reliability of cellular coverage, keeping people connected during a power outage by protecting the emergency batteries used in wireless base stations.” The TEA complements

the company’s family of outdoor coolers for harsh

applications. It can, however, be easily retrofitted as a substitute for

compressor based air conditioners used in

medical diagnostic and analytical instrumentation for cooling and heating applications where maximizing system uptime is required.

An IP65 sealed version of Hammond Electronics’ 1553 handheld enclosure family is now available from JPR Electronics. The soft-sided enclosures are intended for housing electronic products that will be used in environments where dust and water is likely to be present, with typical applications including instrument or mobile data enclosures requiring a keypad and display, particularly when repetitive assembly and disassembly are required. The 1553W has a curved shape that is designed to fit comfortably into the hand and the top cover

is recessed to allow a membrane keypad to be flush mounted. An integral end panel forms part of the top cover, providing an easy to machine area for cable entry, switches and indicators. PCB standoffs are provided in the top and base for mounting There are three sizes available: 117 x 79 x 25mm, 117 x 79 x 32mm and 147 x 90 x 25mm. All

models are moulded in UL94-V0 flame retardant ABS in RAL 7035 light grey or RAL 9011 black, both over-moulded with RAL 7012 grey soft side grips. These have a one piece silicone gasket and a tongue and groove construction moulded into the top and

bottom halves. The top and base are assembled with four screws that locate into brass inserts in the top moulding, facilitating repeated access to the housed electronics.
