he USB232 from KK Systems is an industrial- grade UK manufactured 1.5kV-test isolated USB to RS232 converter which supports baud rates to 230k.

Drivers are included to create a virtual COM port within the operating system which is compatible with every normal Windows application program. The USB232 is unique in the market in that it has a world-unique device ID which ensures that it appears under the same COM port regardless of which USB port on a particular PC it is plugged into. This simplifies application software configuration and avoids customer support issues caused by a converter being moved to a different USB port on the same computer. Unlike many other converters, all RS232 signals are supported for total compatibility. The USB-232 is completely plug-and-play and no configuration is involved outside the application software which uses the COM port.

to upgrade their FID or to replace an ageing instrument will now be offered the portable Thermo-FID which weighs just 14Kg including a gas bottle holder, or 10kg as the free-standing version. The Thermo-FID instruments measure volatile organic gases (VOCs) such as solvents and petrochemicals across an extraordinarily wide range of concentrations – from ppm to Vol% and also include fixed gas analysers.

Users may change setpoint or gas selection, and issue other commands to Alicat instruments using a DeviceNet or EtherNet/IP enabled PLC or computer. With response times as low as 100 ms, Alicat controllers rapidly and precisely monitor and control critical process parameters in chemical, medical, manufacturing and power industries. In addition to the new EtherNet/IP and DeviceNet protocols, Alicat offers Modbus-RTU and PROFIBUS communication options. Users may also select Alicat’s standard multi-drop RS-232 connectivity or the optional RS-485 for greater data integrity over longer distances.
