• Work closely with line managers One of the big lessons learned from the evidence was that integrating learning and work means working closely with line managers. These organisations listen first, understanding the performance problem before recommending a solution. They are more likely to involve managers when designing formal learning. They expect managers to take responsibility for supporting learning and equip managers to do it.


• Be active in supporting learning in the flow of work


Those using the model to reframe their thinking are finding ways to support how staff learn as they work. They are four times as likely to agree that staff have access to job aids either online or via mobile devices, and 11 times as likely to have content curation strategies in place to help staff find what they need, when they need it.

Make it happen! These tips are not rocket science and they are simple to apply. However, many L&D professionals struggle to let go of the past and reframe the ways that they work with business. Taking action of the simple stuff will help L&D achieve some of its aspirations to really integrate learning and work. If we are going to be prepared for the future of L&D, we need to start doing things differently today. n
