TECHNICS MOSCOW CONTINUES TO INVEST TO MEET DEMAND FOR MRO SERVICES IN RUSSIA
Volga-Dnepr Technics Moscow (VDTM) is increasing its investment in personnel and looking to expand its network of line stations in Russia to meet demand for its aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services.
The company has increased its headcount of engineers and technicians increase by 27% in the last two years and expects to grow its team further in 2017 by nearly 40%. VDTM currently operates at three airports in Moscow as well as in Krasnoyarsk and Krasnodar.
In an interview with MRO-
Network.com, Evgeny Kochetov. General Director of VDTM, said one of the company’s near-term projects will be to construct hangar
facilities at Moscow-Sheremetyevo Airport for its man customer, AirBridgeCargo Airlines, and to serve other operators.
VDTM is also supporting the new Irkut MC-21, a twin-engined Russian aircraft. He said the company’s engineers are working closely with Irkut to develop a maintenance programme for the aircraft, examine the composition and operation of aircraft systems and define intervals for checks and inspections.
Discussing the company’s other strategic development plans, he said: “In the next five years, the company is keen to expand its network of line stations within Russia, gain
approvals for maintenance of new aircraft types and develop its in-house Aviation Training Centre to build on its maintenance expertise.”
Volga-Dnepr Technics Moscow’s growth is being driven by a combination of the scope of its in-house capabilities and the strong advantages offered by its home market in Russia. Evgeny Kochetov highlights
the company’s experience with new aircraft types such as the Boeing 747-8, competitive labour costs, its presence at five Russian airports and success in deploying line maintenance stations worldwide. VDTM’s capabilities also incorporate diagnostics, structural repairs and electrical and mechanical shops, plus an in-house training centre.
