Maryland Will Miss...


Bryce Norwood Truitt of Whaleyville died on November 18. He was 87. Born in Whaleyville, Truitt was a retired horse trainer and member of the US Trotting Association.


Ann Hill of Newtown Square, PA, died on November 28 at the age of 54. Hill was the daughter of Hilltop Farm owner Jane Hill. Ann competed horses but was most passionate about her work as a volunteer at the T orn- croft Equestrian Center. At T orncroft’s an- nual Victory Gallop last April, Ann and her mother were presented with the “Strength of Human Spirit” award.

John Wayne Brake died on December 10 in Winchester, VA. He was 73 and lived in Brunswick, MD. Brake was a former hunts- man of Bull Run Hunt in VA and Windy Hol- low Hunt in NY, as well as Goshen Hunt and New Market-Middletown Valley Hounds here in Maryland. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1964-1967. With his wife Patricia, he founded T e School of Foxhunting to teach the art and etiquette of fox hunting. In 2001, he became the man- ager of the Frederick 4-H Camp and Activities Center until he retired in 2011.
