Yvette Harris won the Training Pair Pony division. Her gray Welsh mare Suki was awarded the Young Horse/Pony Award in honor of Lana Wright and in memory of Beale Wright Morris. This was Suki’s fi rst pairs competition.
Riley Wilitison of Oakland was the youngest competitor and winner of the Training Single Pony division with his eight-year-old Connemara pony, who is only slightly younger than he is!
marked its 12th year at Fair Hill NRMA. T is “low key - no frills” driving event drew 66 competitors from 14 states and Canada. As Maryland’s only ADS Combined Driving Event, it is encouraging to see so many travel- ing to Fair Hill for this driving competition. Performances by the very small to the very tall equines wowed the spectators, and three horse teams and two pony teams added to the excitement for those who were unfamiliar with the sport. Elk Creek CDE is a free ad- mission event that has fi lled the gap for those who missed watching this unique event when it was a part of the Fair Hill International. T e organizers want to thank the competi- tors, offi cials, sponsors, and the many volun- teers who made it happen! More photos can be found on

Longtime CDE volunteer and former competitor Linda Thomas was recognized as the Elk Creek CDE 2017 Best Vol- unteer.
