Fun Antidote to Online Addiction
As a parent of children aged 9 and 12, I am challenged by the lure of tablets, phones and on demand TV. Left to make their own choices, kids will sit for hours engrossed, even when the sun is shining. Parents have to finds ways to lure the kids away from their devices and get them outside, active and socializing with other kids. We are lucky to have a pool and I have found this to be one of the best antidotes to online addiction and binge watching. To increase the fun I have found it pays dividends to make sure there is a selection of pool toys and games to enable kids’ imaginations and increase the ways they can have fun. Our floating Pirate Island has provided many hours of amusement by helping to conjure up pirate adventures. Floating swans and other similar floats give the children a springboard on which to make up games. Of course the standard favorites of summer,
Volleyball and Basketball, are even more fun when the element of water is added, splashing around in the pool. Trying to get the ball in
the basket while airborne, jumping into the pool, increases the fun and the activity level! Water guns are great fun for battles in or out of the pool. You don’t necessarily need a backyard pool
to have water fun. There are plenty of water slide designs to choose from — water sprinkler devices, also inflatable pools can be fun for younger kids. Of course the water also keeps them cool so
they can stay outside longer so be sure to keep an eye on all of the kids at all times, even if they are well-seasoned swimmers. Provide life vests and swim assisted devices for weaker swimmers. Be sure to apply a water-resistant sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher at least every 60 minutes to protect your child's skin from harmful UV rays. Swimming goggles also help to keep eyes from getting irritated by pool chemicals. You can find all the water toys, pools, games and other items you may need at
www.toysplash.com, where the prices are very reasonable and most product purchases come with free or very low cost shipping.
