your baby will love. At six months, your baby may be ready to start solids.* Babies need fat and nutrients to support their growing brains and bodies.

Avocados Mashed avocados contain healthy fat, fiber and vitamin C. They’re also high in vitamins K and potassium.

Pumpkins Puréed orange veggies like pumpkins and sweet potatoes are a good source of vitamins A, C and K.

Wild blueberries Puréed wild blueberries contain antioxidants and fiber. Choose organic berries to help minimize your baby’s exposure to pesticides.

Why babies need fat During the first two years of life your baby’s brain will make amazing gains in size and complexity. Because the brain and nervous system are largely comprised of fat tissue, pediatricians recommend that about half of a baby’s calories come from fat during this period of time. After 6 months, full fat foods like avocados and whole milk yogurt are a great choice.

* Every child is different so check with your pediatrician before introducing new foods to your baby.
