Eurasian Bank ousts Diasoft in favour of R-Style Softlab

Moscow-based Eurasian Bank, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan’s Eurasian Bank, has gone live with a new core banking system, RS- Bank V.6, from Russian developer R-Style Softlab. RS-Bank replaced the Diasoft 5NT sys-

tem from a domestic rival, Diasoft. Accord- ing to R-Style Softlab, Eurasian Bank’s busi- ness growth and branch network expan- sion required ‘a more modern and flexible, centralised solution that could support fur- ther technological development’. The deal was inked in 2014. The new platform is Oracle-based

(R-Style Softlab also supplies a version of RS-Bank that is based on Pervasive) and has the following modules installed: core, accounts, retail banking, loans, reporting, dealing and securities. It covers retail and corporate banking business lines, including loans and deposits, cards, payments, FX, inter-bank lending and securities. An important factor in selecting a

new system was that Eurasian Bank’s long-standing relationship with R-Style Softlab in Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstani bank has been using the RS-Bank core sys- tem for many years, and last year the two parties embarked on creating a master

data management (MDM) system with web interface, set to contain data on over 1.3 million retail customers of the bank. Her- mann Tischendorf, Eurasian Bank’s CIO and MD, described R-Style Softlab as ‘a reliable partner’. A few years back, Eurasian Bank

attempted to pioneer in Russia and the CIS region the Thaler core banking system from Belgium-based Callataÿ&Wouters (C&W). The project was a result of a 2009 partnership agreement between R-Style Softlab and C&W to offer a packaged solu- tion containing Thaler (business functional- ity) and RS-Bank (local accounting and reg- ulatory reporting functionalities). By then, Eurasian Bank was already an established user of RS-Bank. The project, however, was beset with difficulties and subsequently shelved. The partnership between the two vendors is no longer in place either. C&W was taken over by France-based software group, Sopra, and merged with a number of other acquisitions to form Sopra Banking Software. The Thal- er system is now known as Sopra Banking Platform. Meanwhile, R-Style Softlab was acquired by a Polish software firm, Asseco. Tanya Andreasyan

Sagicor Bank Jamaica overhauls front-to-back office software, Temenos’ T24 now live

Sagicor Bank Jamaica has gone live with Temenos’ T24 core banking system. At the front-end, the bank has rolled out the Netteller omnichannel banking platform supplied by Netinfo. The project is part of the integration of

Sagicor Bank and RBC Royal Bank Jamaica, which merged in mid-2014 – following the $84 million acquisition of the local opera- tions of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) by Sag- icor Group. The bank signed for Temenos’ T24

core banking system in Q2 2014. The acquired operation has already been a long- standing user of T24 (as part of a

multisite roll-out across the regional oper- ations of RBC). Netinfo says Netteller’s ‘ omnichannel

approach will provide internet banking, mobile banking, SMS banking and Facebook banking’ to the bank. Philip Arm- strong, deputy CEO at Sagicor Bank, says the bank hopes to double the current level of channels users within twelve months. At present, there are 14,500 active users of the online platform, representing ten per cent of Sagicor Bank’s client base, Armstrong says. The bank calls the new system

offer will become a ‘hook’ for new bank cli- ents, especially the cross-banking feature and facilitation of international money transfers. Sagicor says clients will be able to

complete cross-currency transfers, make mass payments via the real-time gross settlement system (RTGS) and conduct SMS banking. It will also launch its mobile app for smartphones by early October. Netinfo specialises in channels bank-

ing software. It was founded in 2000 and has offices in Russia, the UK, Cyprus and Costa Rica.
