ACI Worldwide snaps up German payments company Pay.on for €180m
US-based payments company ACI World- wide has acquired lending and ecommerce provider Pay.on. Under the agreement, ACI will gain 100% of the equity of Pay.on using a combi- nation of cash and stock, valuing the provid- er at around €180 million. Munich-based Pay.on provides connec-
tivity to merchants to more than 300 pay- ments methods in 160 countries. Pay.on’s solutions, provided on a
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) basis, says ACI, give customers ‘the ability to deliver a seam- less omnichannel customer payment expe- rience in any retailer modality – in store, mobile and online’. ACI Worldwide already has a wide range
of payments services throughout its port- folio, and Pay.on will enable the compa- ny to expand its ecommerce platform into new regions, according to CEO at ACI, Phil Heasley. The purchase of Pay.on is unlikely to

affect ACI Worldwide’s earnings for the remainder of the fiscal year 2015, according to the firm. The company’s existing credit facility, it says, will be used to finance the transaction. ACI has recently emerged from a legal battle in India with systems integrator FSS,
which alleged that the former had abused its position in the market. Following a year- long investigation from the Competition Commission of India (CCI), the US pay- ments company was found to have done no wrong.
