Rabobank live with Objectway’s Eximius platform
Netherlands-based Rabobank has gone live with Italian vendor Objectway’s Eximius portfolio management system. Eximius is reportedly part of Rabo-
bank’s campaign to simplify and renew its IT systems. According to Objectway, Eximi- us will allow Rabobank’s clients to receive ‘consistent performance and reporting, regardless of the channel through which the information is presented’. The software is set to become the sin-
gle database through which all of Rabo- bank’s client investment reporting – on paper and electronic – will be adminis- tered.
Objectway won the contract under the
noses of ten competing vendors, say busi- ness development director at the firm, Jos Martens. ‘Rabobank needed a system that was capable of supporting the sophisticat- ed performance requirements of its clients,’ he adds. Rabobank, based in of the Nether-
lands, has 8.8 million clients globally and employs around 48,250 people. It oper- ates 547 branches in its home country and offers customer online and mobile banking
services. Objectway acquired the Eximius plat-
form from Thompson Reuters in 2013. Just a few months ago the vendor also
purchased another part of Thomson Reu- ters’ business, Beta Global. Beta Global is a back office system for wealth managers. Objectway plans to integrate Beta Global within its Eximiusportfolio of man- agement systems.

Earlier this year, Objectway completed
a buy-up of 3i Infotech’s UK business, head- ed up by Rhyme Systems. It now promises a new lease of life for this long-standing, but somewhat dormant business. Rhyme Systems’ brand new develop-
ment, the Illumas investment/wealth man- agement platform, is poised to compete with the likes of Avaloq and ERI.
Alex Hamilton Rubik Financial extends partnership with Temenos
Australia-based Rubik Financial, a long-standing Temenos partner, will now be also offering Temenos’ omnichannel platform, Temenos Connect, to the local market. The agreement includes the upgrade
of Rubik’s existing channel offering to that of Temenos. Temenos Connect stems from the
2012 acquisition of a small UK-based ven- dor, Edge IPK, and its Edgeconnect prod- uct.
Iain Dunstan, CEO of Rubik, observes
that ‘mutual banks, regional banks and credit unions are competing in a disrup- tive and rapidly changing marketplace’. To succeed, they need to differentiate them- selves by offering quality and convenience to its customers, he says. Having ‘a power- ful platform that is quick to market, scala-
ble, functionally rich and delivers an opti- mum user experience’ across all channels is paramount.
Rubik and Temenos: what’s the story? Rubik’s core banking software offering, Bank-in-a-Box, is based on Temenos’ T24 core banking system. It is offered on a host- ed basis to banks and financial institutions in Australia and New Zealand. The offering was introduced to the
market back in 2008 but the uptake has been very slow. It has two known users to date, Maleny
Credit Union (MCU) and Uniting Financial Services (UFS), the treasury arm of Uniting Church.
MCU came on board in 2009 and went
live the following year. UFS signed for the Bank-in-a-Box in 2012.

There was another prospect for the
system, First Chartered Capital Corpo- ration, but its subsequent merger with another financial institution saw the imple- mentation abandoned. There was also a string of senior man-
agement departures at Rubik over the last couple of years. The company’s founder and CEO, Brent Jackson, left in early 2013. Jackson was also director of Coin Software, Rubik’s financial planning software busi- ness, and he relinquished this post too. He was succeeded by Ken Carr, who
joined from a small domestic advisory firm, Kilnsey, where he was MD. Carr left Rubik just a year and a half into his new post. The current CEO is Iain Dunstan, for-
merly regional director at Avaloq and prior to that, CEO and MD of Bravura Solutions. Tanya Andreasyan
