Renewing Confidence Certification through Certified Automotive

Recycler and Gold Seal programs Established in 1994, the CAR program was

created to produce a set of standards for gen- eral business practices as well as environmental and safety issues and to provide guidance for member facilities in adhering to these stan- dards. This program is one of the cornerstones of the ARA as the facilities participating strive to provide quality service and parts for the profes- sional automotive recycling industry. Why ARA Members Become Certified: 1. Because industry partners recognize CAR members as market leaders,

3. The more CAR Certified auto recyclers we have, the stronger of a voice we will yield. Increasingly the market is rewarding those fa-

cilities that value quality and safety enough to become certified. To help you assume a leading role in the marketplace, ARA has updated and streamlined the CAR application so it is more user-friendly and evaluates your facility using a more common sense, real-life approach. The CAR guide also has

been revised and is an excellent resource to help you become a CAR Program member. Both the new application and guide

build on the CAR Program’s past successes and include an audit that is based on a point system under which a facility will be evaluated using a point value for each familiar CAR standard. The

standards have been reorganized to more closely follow the auditors’ facility inspection se- quence, but no new standards have been added. The ARA Gold Seal program, available only to

those ARA members who have completed CAR certification, ensures excellence in customer sat- isfaction through improved customer service, quality parts with accurate descriptions, reliable on-time deliveries and written product warranties. With the new addition of the customer com-

plaint system, minimum CSI score standards, mechanical parts warranty, and the requirement of all Gold Seal members to use the ARA parts grading system, why would you buy recycled au- tomotive parts from anyone else? Established by ARA with an endorsement

from the Automotive Service Association (ASA), the program allows recyclers to join forces to take a proactive stance to improve quality and increase customer satisfaction.
