P

ARA and TARA Member business American Auto Salvage once again generously opened their doors to host the always popular trade show and BBQ.

ARA Second Vice President RD Hopper, of

Sonny’s Auto Salvage, Jacksonville, Arkansas, was on hand to represent the Association and share news of recent ARA activities. Attendees had the opportunity to tour Bishop International, Inc., a pur- chaser of automotive cores and scrap, and provider of new, used and remanu- factured parts. A “PAC the Alley” event

was held at a local bowling alley to raise funds for TARA’s political action com- mittee, and politics was the focus of Saturday morning’s program as Chair of TARA’s Legislative Committee, Bruce Ormand, A1 Partsmart, Austin, Texas, provided an overview of the legislative issues TARA is focused on, including the sale of used tires and working with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Steve Levetan, Executive Vice President, Pull- A-Part, LLC, preceded Ormand with a presentation on “The Future of Titling.” Industry favorites Mike Kunkel, Bill Stevens and Mike Lambert also pre- sented at the event. Congratulations to the entire TARA Board and Executive Director Cheryll Lambright for another successful event!

of a decade with GreenLeaf Auto Recyclers.

In his new capacity as Consultant for ARA Product Services, Howard’s portfo- lio will focus on continuing to grow ARADirect, the online salvage vehicle auction platform launched by ARA Product Services in 2013.

ARA CEO Michael E. Wilson visited with automotive recyclers and ARA members in Virginia and Maryland in late November. Wilson joined members of the Virginia Automotive Recyclers Association (VARA) in Alexandria, Virginia as part of VARA’s year-long effort to engage with members in all parts of the state. The Northern Virginia event also drew recyclers from nearby Maryland and Washington, DC. Wilson also attended a bull roast, which has historically been the annual gathering of members of the Maryland Auto and Truck Recyclers Association. Over the past several years attendance at the event has dropped and it is the hope that with assistance from ARA and near- by state organizations that the Maryland automotive recycling community can grow. During these events, Wilson men- tioned that ARA looks foward to holding its 73rd Annual Convention in Baltimore from October 26-29, 2016.
