ALAMAN is a beautiful town located to the Southwest of Turkey and it is also situated in the district of Dalaman. The district lies within the


Mugla Province of Turkey and is an ideal base to explore the area, or take sure Turkish adventure further. In terms of climate, Turkey as a whole is a comfortably warm region due to being situated towards the middle east. As Dalaman sits to the south west, the Mediterranean climate is emulated here, giving both that access to culture, and warm summer sun which so many crave. Summers within the region will be hot and dry, with a tendency to last long and meld into the Autumn months; winter’s are the opposite, displaying a cool atmosphere for a short period of time making it the ultimate warm destination all year round for travellers and sun worshippers. In fact, Dalaman is the current record holder for the highest recorded air temperature throughout Turkey.


So what is Dalaman famous for? Turkey as a whole has really taken off as a sun-filled holiday destination for Britons seeking a change from the usual tourist destinations and, especially after the covid pandemic, they are seeking something more culture- soaked and unique- a bucket list style of travel. Dalaman also files under the lesser-known district of Turkey, but it is one that should be on everyone’s list. As previously mentioned, Dalaman sits on the coast, therefore of course it will display sandy baches- some of which are the gems of Turkey! Alongside this, Dalaman boasts an excellent choice for foodies, adrenaline junkies and those chasing picturesque mountain ranges. We could go on and on, but instead, we’ve made it easy


for you.

White Sand Beaches Yup ,you guessed it. First up on the list in the stunning


beaches covering miles upon miles along the coastline. Each beach differs to the next, making Dalaman the ideal location for yourself and some vitamin sea. Some popular names that come up on the regular whilst searching for a beach location near Dalaman is Katranci Bay. Here you will find all the locals just hanging out and getting away from their usual 9-5; A great place to meet some of the locals and find out where else you should explore! Honourable mentions go to Iztuzu, a picture-perfect beach which sits amongst some of the top rated beaches within Europe- It is definitely not one to miss! Of course there many other beaches within the area too if you are after something a little bit more quiet, after all, the beach is what you make it and Dalaman is one of the best hub locations for this.


Taking a dive with the Turtles Turkey is often thought of as a last thought of Europe


when considering its presence at the end of the border- I mean, half of it doesn’t even belong to Europe so you are forgiven for thinking this. Because of this, many do not expect to find similar conditions to that found within southern Europe- the likes of Italy, Spain and France come to mind. But, as mentioned, the Mediterranean connection to the western edge of Turkey gives the perfect mix of the two differing cultures. Because of this, around the Turkish beaches and the Dalyan River which is located close to Dalaman is an excellent spot for swimming with sea turtles. The warm waters attract the

creatures to make here their home and also encourages them to take to the shores edge and nestle their eggs. Take a short day trip out to this spot, or jump on one of the many boat tours in the area, and you might just stumble across a collection of the sea turtles. Mud Masks and Brown Baths


Whilst talking about the Dalyan we can not miss the opportunity to mention the Dalyan mud baths. These mud baths are an ancient take on the modern spa relaxation method and we would actually argue this is better! The mud, which is high in vitamins in minerals, can be used as a simple face mask or to cover your entire body to feel the full benefits. The mud has been said to help ease and, in some case, remove certain skin problems and aches and pains. Think Iceland’s famous blue lagoon, only within the hot sun of Turkey and in some senses feels a bit more natural. After soaking up all that mineral goodness, you then go for a quick swim in the surrounding sulphur pool to remove the mud and voila! Travellers will feel revitalised and renewed at this authentic, natural spa experience. After all, it was good enough of Cleopatra who apparently spent time at these very baths.


Discover the Lycian Rock Tombs


Similarly shaped to Petra in Jordan, the Lycian Rock Tombs in Turkey are a sight to behold. When visiting the protruding rock tombs, you’re instantly transferred to ancient Turkey and it is an excellent way of getting a gaps of the history that surrounds Dalaman itself. Sitting quietly in the rick face, the ash-orange tombs are surrounded with grand openings that sit above a body of water which reflects these standing features shining in the sunlight. The tombs are the resting place of many Lycians, however history does not tell us an awful lot about these people. But what do we know? The tomb at the very top of this structure is the tomb of Amyntas, noting that he was a figure of importance during the time. The tombs sit above Fethiye which is not far from Dalaman. If you’re after a daytime adventure to discover something historic, beautiful and close to nearby amenities then the Lycian rock tombs are a must see whilst in Turkey.


Adrenalin Junkie paradise


Are you searching for somewhere you can live out your wildest adventures, all whist surrounded by breath-taking views as the adrenaline pumps through your veins? Then Dalaman could be your next holiday stop. Turkey itself is known locally for its high-intensity activities and this ranges from a number of things due to the placement of Turkey. One of the highly must-do activities is paragliding. I am sure you have heard of the likes of Cappadocia, where the hot air balloons sail slowing above heads every morning, but if you’re after something a little more… high paced should we say, then this is a great alternative. Many areas and districts host sports like this, but we recommending venturing out to beautiful Ölüdeniz. This resort village sits on the coast not far from Dalaman and from here you can paraglide high above the near-by mountain range and above the blue waters below- youre sure to come away with a lasting memory of your visit the Turkey. If paragliding is not for you then pick up your snorkel and get diving in the warm waters along the coast. As mentioned, you may see sea turtles along with all the other species such as morays and barracudas to name but a few. Food, food , food


Dalaman, and Turkey in general, will have your tastebuds tingling with a wide selection of foods, both sweet and savoury, to dive into. Dalaman itself


is a


farming town and therefore you’re sure to receive fresh goods every morning! Top tip: take a stroll down through the town to the fruit and veg stalls lining either side; try some fresh tomatoes or citrus fruits ans this is what the town is known for- you will not regret it. I you’re after something a little bit bigger, then we recommend taking a trip to the nearby town of Fethiye. The town hosts a large market which is filled with all delights ranging from food, to clothes, to trinkets and souvenirs. Ty you hand at haggling and impress the locals with your bartering skills. You can not leave Turkey without tucking in to the famous Turkish Delight or Baklava for the sweet lovers. Whilst back in Dalaman, give the fish a go because, once again, it will be locally sourced and fresh from the nearby coast- Delish!


Sail the Mediterranean


Dalaman sits quietly at the water’s edge of Turkey, looking out over the blue Mediterranean. From here, you may spy the floating islands surrounding the coastline. Luckily, you too can explore these 12 islands, the Göcek 12 Islands. During the warmer months the area will be swarmed with fisherman, yachts, day boats and tourist boats all floating by in the hot sun. The Göcek port is a short drive outside of Dalaman, where tourists can hop on a number of boats to visit the surrounding islands. Take in the stunning views of Dalaman and the extended coast from the sea, and discover what the islands have to offer. Many tours provide a guide to show tourists the way around these islands, all whilst displaying a short


history lesson on each. If you would prefer, you can also rent out your own boat for the day and go exploring yourself. Take a dip in the warm ocean and discover little hidden caves and coves scattered around the islands. Think of it as a trip from home, of home, whilst out here in the Dalaman District.


The Marmaris Honey House


Just sitting a little bit further outside of Dalaman is the Marmaris Honey House. Marmaris is not only a huge tourism hub for Turkey, but it is also a hub for pine honey. This explains why Baklava is such a big sweet treat here in Turkey, in fact, Turkey sits within the top five honey producing countries in the world, and is ranked top for its pine honey producing. This fascinating house produces honey for the Mulga region from the pine trees in the region and it is well worth the visit whilst in Dalaman or across the Dalaman region. Visit the site and see how the honey is housed, how the bees are cared for whilst in production and see what hard working people are native to this area and what their hard work goes towards. This honey house helps promote tourism in the areas that are unable to do this for themselves.


Dalaman is an excellent hub for Turkey as a whole and we highly recommend it as a top area to visit. Easy access from the Dalaman airport, visitors will find their time here a breeze in terms of transport, weather, culture and food, so much so, we would almost bet our houses that this is an area you will visit time and time again. Turkey is finally receiving the hype it deserves and now is the perfect time to explore as much of the area is untouched , unscaved natural beauty.
