WTTC Welcomes Government Collaboration To Support UK’s Tourism Industry


THE World Travel & Tourism Council has welcomed the UK Government’s new Visitor Economy Advisory Council (VEAC), created to address some of the key challenges facing the UK’s Travel & Tourism sector.


WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson is honoured to have been selected as a founding member of the VEAC and through her participation urges the government to act swiftly and decisively to avoid the long-term decline of an industry that contributed £280BN to the UK economy in 2024 and supported over 4.1MN jobs.

The NI Travel News Team was saddened to learn of the passing of Mona Boardman Tohill. Mona died peacefully on Thursday


23rd January in Marie Curie Hospice; she fought a long battle with M.N.D. Mona owned travel agency Europa Travel, handed down by her late father, Charlie.


Mona was a previous member of Advantage and the Consort Group and attended meetings regularly,

many of the travel trade will have fond memories.


Speaking on her passing, Marie Gallagher, Downe Travel said: “I was touched to receive a message from her as she spent her last few days at Marie Curie Hospice.


As you know she was a very private person and bravely fought MND for over 2 years. Nan and I had kept in touch and as Brian her brother said that he was proud of “My Beautiful Wee Sister”.”
