Professional Matters NEWS AND VIEWS FOR MEMBERS GOING GLOBAL Connecting with Korea
CPA CANADA IS STRENGTHENING ties with South Korea’s professional accounting organization. Tashia Batstone, CPA Canada’s vice-president of
education services, was in South Korea in February as part of a trade mission that included Minister of International Trade Ed Fast and more than 100 business delegates. The mission highlighted benefits of the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement, which came into effect on Jan. 1. It provides temporary entry and enhanced market access for service providers, including Canada’s CPAs. “We’re opening a dialogue with the Korean Institute
CPA Canada’s Tashia Batstone (centre) with members of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants in South Korea
of Certified Public Accountants to strengthen ties between our two organizations,” says Batstone. “The trade mission provided the opportunity to have those discussions within the context of a growing trade relationship between Canada and South Korea.”
