Larry Comunale Named to Institute’s Distinguished List

arry Comunale has a record he wants to protect. After serving on the ICI Board of Directors for 18
years, he never missed a board meeting for a total of 64 straight meetings. That’s quite an accomplishment. No other board director in the history of the Investment Casting Institute can claim such an honor.
After earning a BS in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Pittsburg, Comunale began his career in the steel mills, and entered the investment casting industry in 1963, when he went to work for Howmet Corporation.

So that’s
how I got acquainted with investment castings,” Comunale reminisced. As an alloy salesman, Comunale
was in all the leading investment casting foundries of the time. “It enabled me to see some of the development of investment castings... all types of applications, and all types of foundries up, down and across the United States,” he added. “I think what I liked most about it was the different types of parts that this industry produces.”

Comunale has held various general manager and marketing/sales manager positions with Lockheed Martin, Doncasters Southern Tool, Howmet and Consolidated Casting Corporations over the years.

as a director! His perfect attendance record will never be beaten for his time on the board, but I truly think that
