David Ford Awarded EJ Fox Medal
O’Fallon Casting Facility Expansion On October 4th, 2016, O’Fallon
Casting broke ground on a 25,000 sq. ft. expansion, which will bring the total size of the facility to 75,000 sq. ft.
Construction of the new addition will take approximately 12-16 months and will work around their current schedule to ensure that O’Fallon Casting maintains it’s on time delivery. The main focus of the expansion is to streamline the current product flow and modernize the casting clean up and pre- inspection areas. Some key features of the expansion include: • A new high capacity Solution Anneal oven, almost doubling OFC’s current heat treating capacity
• A conveyor system which will move cast shells directly from the foundry to the casting cleanup area, reducing handling and the possibility of handling damage
• Newly designed automatic water-wash machines to remove a majority of the ceramic shell in one pass
• New downdraft tables and a new dust collection system in our pre-inspection area
• Increased warehouse space
• New employee locker rooms, restrooms and new lunch room
With this new floor space and equipment, O’Fallon Casting will be able to streamline it’s product flow and gain capacity through efficiency gains.
David Ford has been awarded with the E J Fox Medal* for services to the industry and, in particular, for his voluntary work as Secretary General of the EICF Steve Irwin as Chairman of the
EICF presented this award to Dr. Ford at the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers’ (ICME’s) annual awards luncheon. In his own words Steve said, “As I
said to David at the award luncheon, it was both an honor and a privilege to join so many esteemed colleagues from the world of casting in celebrating and recognizing David’s huge contribution to both the EICF and the wider investment casting community.” In a thank you letter penned to both
John Townsend (President of the ICME) and the General Council of the ICME, David thanked the ICME for honoring him with the award, commenting that ‘… awards given by one’s colleagues are always the most precious’. In due course, an ICME Awards article will appear in the Foundry Trade Journal. We are sure that all the community of the EICF and the Investment Casters in general shall be joining the EICF Chairman, congratulating David on this well-deserved achievement.
