About ScottishPower Renewables and Vattenfall

ScottishPower Renewables is part of Iberdrola, the world’s largest wind energy developer, with an operating portfolio of over 14,000MW. ScottishPower Renewables is responsible for progressing Iberdrola’s onshore wind and marine energy projects in the UK and Ireland, and offshore windfarms throughout the world, managing the development, construction and operation of all projects. With a pipeline including 10,000MW of offshore wind, and the 10MW world-first tidal energy array in the Sound of Islay, ScottishPower Renewables is firmly committed to the responsible development of renewable energy.

Vattenfall is a leading European energy company, Europe’s sixth largest generator of electricity and the continent’s largest producer of heat. Understanding the environmental effects of the proposals

Legislation requires that East Anglia THREE Limited undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to identify likely significant environmental effects of the project. The results of the EIA will be published in an Environmental Statement (ES) that will accompany the DCO application for the windfarm.

In order to agree the environmental studies required for the EIA with statutory consultees, East Anglia THREE Limited published a Scoping Report to the Planning Inspectorate in November 2012. This document included detailed information on the approach to EIA for the offshore windfarm, an indicative project description for offshore and onshore works and a summary of potential impacts which will be assessed. The Scoping Report is available for viewing on the Planning Inspectorate website, which can be accessed directly:

Two summary documents, the East Anglia THREE Summary of Environmental Considerations – Onshore, and East Anglia THREE Summary of Environmental Considerations – Offshore, have been produced as reference documents for the purposes of this consultation. They provide a summary of the key information available in the Scoping Report, and are available to download from the project website, the details of which are available at the end of this document.

East Anglia THREE Limited will provide the preliminary findings of the EIA within the PEIR, and make this information available to the local community for consultation. The PEIR will include a description of the proposals and baseline information (to date) and identify the potential impacts of the development, as well as possible measures to reduce, prevent or offset these. This will include information on the scope for any associated land restoration, landscaping, other mitigation or compensatory measures for natural habitats impact if required.
