11. Detailed engineering design, route refinement, and additional information were sought for the onshore cable route, Construction Consolidation Sites (CCS) and associated temporary works (area / access roads) during the EIA undertaken for East Anglia ONE. This assessment draws primarily on the information provided within the ES for East Anglia ONE as the landfall and onshore cable route are shared (See Chapter 5 Description of the Development). The ES for East Anglia ONE identified the converter station locations for the proposed East Anglia ONE, East Anglia THREE and East Anglia FOUR projects.


19.3.2 Worst Case 12.


There are two scenarios for the installation of onshore cables for the proposed East Anglia THREE project:


 Scenario 1: use of pre-installed ducts; or


 Scenario 2: open-trenching for cables for the proposed East Anglia THREE project and installation of ducts for the proposed East Anglia FOUR project.

Scenario 1 assumes that during the construction of proposed East Anglia ONE project the following are undertaken:


 Installation of up to four cables along 37km of the cable route (mostly via open trenching) with haul road along the entire length together with installation of up to 8 ducts for cables from future projects (East Anglia THREE and East Anglia FOUR).


 HDD for up to 12 cables at 8 points along the route.


 Removal of the haul road and reinstatement of land and features along 37km of the cable route.

Therefore for the proposed East Anglia THREE project the following works are required at a later date:


 Creation of up to four jointing pits (assuming each cable jointed in its own pit) at up to 61 locations along the cable route.
