admire Ali’s authenticity, resilience, and generosity. We always say, ‘You have to be the CEO of your own business as a songwriter.’ Ali has excelled at that, and it’s allowed her to reach the highest levels of the songwriting world.” Not that you will ever hear anything approaching ego coming from Tamposi. She does not obsess over track performances – indeed she is charmingly unaware that Havana and Señorita have both cruised past 1.5 billion streams each on Spotify, registering her reaction with a “That’s wild!” burst of surprise. Her post-Stronger purple patch began in 2016 with DJ Snake and Justin Bieber’s Let Me Love You – currently on 1.3 billion Spotify streams and still counting.
“I know that song was personally important because it was her first hit since she had gotten sober, her first hit with her amazing collaborator Andrew Watt, and our first hit together as a team,” says David Silberstein. “When we were sitting with Ali after that song went to No.1, she expressed so much gratitude for that moment. It was more than just a song for her. She overcame a lot to reach the mountain top again and that one felt very hard-earned. It helped give her the confidence and belief that she could still do it, and led to the amazing run she’s still on now!” Said run was largely established in the EDM world with Let Me Love You teeing up some Selena Gomez-led hits with Kygo (It Ain’t Me) and Marshmello (Wolves). Yet, just as Tamposi and her collaborators Andrew Watt, Brian

Lee and Louis Bell were starting to become known as the go-to dance hitmakers, she changed things up with Camila Cabello’s Havana. You can expect hits from Tamposi, but not the same hits... “I get bored really easily, so I have to be stimulated by things and explore new ways,” she shrugs. Tamposi must get bored a lot, because her creative output is one of astounding versatility, her recent work including collaborations with Nickelback, Cardi B, BTS, Blink-182, Louis Tomlinson, Jake Bugg, Sam Smith and John Legend. Aside from the massive aforementioned 2020 hits with Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa, Tamposi also worked on a plethora of songs on Ozzy Osbourne’s Ordinary Man (including the Double-O/Post Malone hook-up It’s A Raid) and James Blake’s Are You Even Real?, which scored a major placement in an Apple ad. “That’s what makes Ali so special,” says Silberstein. “She is able to move back and forth from genre to genre so seamlessly. Many songwriters are great, but Ali’s willingness to step out of the box, even if she is uncomfortable, is what really separates her from the rest. She’s a once-in-a-lifetime kind of writer – we feel honoured to work with her every day.” “We truly believe Ali’s one of the greatest songwriters in the world today,” nods Jeremy Levin.
We are now a long way down the line from the day she realised that her dreams had come true in Jennifer Lopez’s

living room. But that doesn’t mean that Reservoir aren’t working hard to make some new ones happen. “My goal for Ali is continue to support her in sourcing collaborations that excite, inspire, and encourage her creativity,” says Donna Caseine. “Together with her managers Jeremy and David, we cultivate an environment where Ali is supported in pursuing her dreams. She knows our dedication and support of her isn’t dependent on the number of songs released, charting, or streamed. We care about how she is fulfilled creatively.”
“Ali wants to continue to work with artists that really challenge her, as well as some of the amazing ones she has already had success with and loves,” adds Silberstein. “We know that she still has some bucket-list artists left that she would love to work with!” So, Ali, about that bucket list?
“I love to work with the greats,” she grins. “Obviously everyone wants to work with Rihanna – that would be amazing. Paul McCartney would be up there, too, if we’re going to dream big!”
Hell, at this point, you wouldn’t expect Ali Tamposi to dream any other way.
