Paul Dawson is a partner at Fluxx, and has been leading the way in crafting digi- tal experiences since 1996. Paul has worked in new media since it was actually “new”: on early multimedia projects with DK; for the world’s first internet radio station; and leading a team— while working at a digital agency—that worked on HMV’s first digital music download service.

Jamal Edwards MBE established online music platform SBTV when he was 15 years old after he was given a camera as a present by his parents. He started filming his friends rapping on the west London estate where he grew up and then uploaded the videos to YouTube. Since 2006, Jamal has grown SBTV from the inner confines of his bedroom into a renowned brand with global reach.


Anand Gilks and Paul Hewitt are respectively account manager/creative and m.d. at Generation Press, the family busi- ness Paul took over 17 years ago and has steered through the changing landscape of the print indus- try. Anand, a graphic design graduate, has an unbridled passion for all things print.


Dominic Gribben is senior editor, digital and audio at Hachette UK, where he has worked since July 2012. In addition to overseeing digital publishing projects and backlist initiatives for Hodder & Stoughton, Dominic and his team are responsible for audio publishing across Hodder, Headline, John Murray Press and Quercus’ lists.


Jo Edwards is the director of Penguin Random House Enter- prises, the team behind sell-out UK-wide tours for Caitlin Moran and YouTube duo Dan and Phil, among others. Jo and her team bring authors and brands to wide audiences through bespoke, immersive experiences and Penguin Live events and tours across the UK and Ireland. Jo joined Random House in 2012.


Adrian Godfrey is the vice-president of strategic partnerships at Pearson. Adrian is responsible for collaborations and investments for Pearson’s Core and Growth markets: K-12, Higher Education and professional.


Jo Forshaw is group director, audio for HarperCollins UK. She has worked in audio- books for 20 years, for agents, retailers and Oneword Radio. Jo is responsible for HarperCollins’ Total Audio strategy, which ensures that the publisher’s books are published simultaneously in all formats.


Naimish Gohil is the c.e.o. and founder of Show My Homework. Established in 2011, the EdTech company works with schools in 23 countries around the world. Its software has disrupted the centuries- old problem of homework in educa- tion systems, and is trusted by over four million users. Prior to Show My Homework, Naimish was an assistant head-teacher in an inner-city London secondary school.


Martin Haines is the chief operating officer of Kudos, a leading producer of TV drama, where he oversees all production, commer- cial, strategy and operational activities of the company. Kudos’ roster includes “Humans”, “Broadchurch”, “The Tunnel”, “Spooks”, “Hustle”, “Life on Mars” and “Ashes to Ashes”. Kudos has won 10 BAFTAs and is a three-time winner of Broadcast’s Best Independent Produc- tion Company award.


Ian Hanmore is an Edinburgh-born stage and screen actor. On screen he is best known for having played the warlock Pyat Pree in “Game of Thrones” and Father Angelo in “Doctor Who”. Ian has narrated TV documentaries, including recent BBC series “Scotland’s Game”, and voiced several critically acclaimed audiobooks, most notably James Oswald’s DI McLean series of crime novels for Penguin Random House.

Timo Hannay is the founder of SchoolDash, an education data analytics firm, and a non-executive direc- tor of SAGE. Until 2015 he was the founding managing direc- tor of Digital Science, a research soft- ware business that grew out of Nature Publishing Group, where he worked for 13 years. He has consulted for McKinsey & Company, written for the Economist and acted as a research neurophysiolo- gist at the University of Oxford.


Tom Hall is vice-pres- ident, product tech- nology (schools and English) at Pearson. He has worked at organ- isations in times of key transformation, delivering products to enable new market opportunities, leading global teams through complex change-management programs and creating partnership ecosystems. Tom is passionate about making the compli- cated simple and acting on the poten- tial that technology offers.


Tim Hely Hutchin- son founded Headline Book Publishing in 1986. Headline was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1991, and acquired Hodder & Stough- ton in 1993 to form Hodder Headline PLC, of which Tim became chief execu- tive. Hodder Headline was acquired by Hachette Livre in 2004, when Tim became group chief executive of the enlarged Hachette UK Group.


Lee Dibble is the marketing and commu- nities director at Pan Macmillan, working across the publisher’s fiction, non-fiction and children’s book output. She has worked in consumer marketing for 16 years, cutting her teeth at the Guard- ian during its rebrand and digital shift, before entering the book trade. She has won a Webby for her work at the Guard- ian, and a Book Marketing Society Best Marketing Campaign of the Year award.


Katie Donelan is the director of business development at Book- Bub. The team Katie leads works with major publishing houses, mid-size and smaller publishers, and thousands of independent authors to help market their e-books. Prior to join- ing BookBub, Katie—a Harvard College alumni—worked in the editorial depart- ment at Random House and on the digital advertising team at Condé Nast.


Cameron Drew has more than 14 years’ experience in the online retail and tech start-up side of publishing. With a background in design and digital production technologies, he spent six years observing online retail fulfil- ment while working with Ingram; five years aiding Kobo with its international expansion; and a year with Shelfie. He has worked for Booktrack for the past two years.


Guy Gadney recently founded his third digi- tal company, having successfully led his previous company through to acquisition at the end of 2015. He has worked in the UK and Australia in the entertain- ment, television, games, book and magazine publishing industries. Guy has a passion for storytelling and tech- nology, and especially how artificial intelligence can be used to create accu- rate simulations of the real world.


James Gray is c.e.o. of Kortext, the UK’s leading digital text- book and learning plat- form and one of the UK’s fastest-growing EdTech businesses. With over 20 years’ experience in the publishing sector, James has steered Kortext to its posi- tion as one of the leading suppliers of learning analytics solutions in Higher Education, striking key partnerships with Microsoft, Samsung and others along the way.


Scott Hamilton joined the bookselling busi- ness in 2006 when he became an area manager for Black- well’s. Progressing through a number of roles, Scott now holds the post of head of sales, book- shops and online; he recently opened two new academic “concept” shops that are focused on a multichannel customer experience. He plans to roll out a new vision of high street book- selling in the coming year.
