exhibition preview | Chinaplas 2017

applicable to process packaging films, capacitor films, thermal transfer films, metallised films and thick film for industrial or optical applications. One variant, the Interslit BSF, is dedicated to

processing battery separator films and wet processed BOPE-based battery separator film – which are both ultra-sensitive materials. It can convert web widths up to 6,000mm and features a clean, integrated machine design.

system, making the ideal setup for each product fully repeatable, according to the company. German film stretching line specialist Brückner Maschinenbau will present a range of innovations – ranging from battery separator film to BOPA. The company says that its BOPP and BOPET film

stretching lines are the widest (up to 10.4m), fastest (above 600m/min) and most productive (up to 65,000 tonnes/year) in the industry. Combined with increased energy and raw material efficiency, its technology can lower film producers’ total cost of ownership (TCO), it says.

In China the demand for high quality food packaging made of bi-oriented polyamide (BOPA) film is constantly rising – and, to reflect this, Brückner will present its latest concepts in simultaneous and sequential BOPA lines with a working width of 6.6m, which it says can increase the output and productivity by 30%. The company will also showcase: sequential and

simultaneous technology for efficient production of high value optical films; lines to make complex five-, seven- or nine-layer high barrier films; and production lines for battery separator film – including its patented Evapore line concept.

Slitter range Goebel IMS will showcase its range of slitter rewinders – including the Monoslit, Interslit and Xtraslit 2 – covering the complete web width from 1,800 to 12,000mm. The newly developed

Interslit has already been successful in Asia, and is designed for processing in the range of intermediate widths up to 7,000mm. It is suitable for foil thicknesses of 0.5 to 500 microns and is

technology, which allows for efficient energy recovery – and so helps to cut operating costs and boost energy savings. Machines also have a range of upgrade options: Interslit, for example, can be customised with a razor blade exchange device or a camera system to monitor the slitting unit.

Liquid-tight lids Illig of Germany is to showcase – for the first time – thermoformed liquid-tight containers with lids. The containers are made from transparent polypropylene (PP) on an automatic pressure forming machine, type IC-RDK 80, with a 12-up container mould. The company developed the ‘take away’ container – which can be tightly closed by a lid – based on the needs of custom- ers in the Asian market: in Asia, hot soups and meals are filled into containers by restaurants and mobile snack booths. “So far, such a cost-effective and safe transport solution does not exist,” said the company. Illig’s packaging specialists designed and realised

all stages of the development – from initial idea and material selection through to mould production. This included its own application tests with respect to tightness and stackability. With its IC-RDK series, Illig developed a forming and punching technology that is suitable for high part quality and reproducibility of packs. Heated materials are formed by means of pre-stretcher and compressed air. The part is punched out of the material in the same cycle. Thanks to this method, parts can be manufac- tured without a punching mismatch in the rim area – which improves automatic pack processing. Illig will also show a fully

automated production line for drinking cups during Chinaplas. The forming machine is an IC-RDM 70K automatic roll-fed machine. APET drinking cups are manufactured on this line with an 18-up cup mould, and
