stability achieved by the HexelOne pipe – with its reinforcement layer of high-strength PE strapping – is twice that provided by PE100 full-wall pipes, it says. Thanks to their protective layer and inner layer made of PE 100-RC, the pipes are suitable for trenchless installation. The DVGW certificate for drinking water covers dimensions from 90 to 125mm. In addition, HexelOne gas pipes have been certified for up to 160mm.

exploration and production costs and risks for demand- ing subsea applications. The pipe can be deployed at depths of 10,000 ft (3,000m) and handle pressures of up to 15 ksi (103MPa). The composite pipe combines Peek, carbon fibre and S-2 Glass fibres that delivers low fatigue, improved buoyancy in fluids and high resistance to corrosion compared to steel pipe. The pipe meets the demand for a hydraulic pumping system that can handle high pressures and high flow rates, said the companies.
Pressure certification The HexelOne high pressure pipe system from Egeplast has been certified by the DVGW for gas and drinking water applications. The company says this approval – in high pressure
applications – allows users to save cost in two specific ways: the corrosion resistance of the pipes removes the need for cathodic protection; and, modern installation techniques will shorten construction time and reduce construction costs. It also opens new areas of use for the pipe, with
permissible operating pressures of 30 bar for water and 16 bar for gas – which exceeds the range of applications previously covered by polyethylene (PE) pipes. The
PEX connection Residents of the districts of Walding and Gaißamühle in Passau, Austria have historically got their potable water from privately-owned wells – but recently decided to connect their properties to the municipal water network. At the same time, a telecommunication and a vacuum sewage line were installed. The length of the new pipeline is about 520m. All components for the water line were supplied by
Agru of Austria. As a main water service line, a Sureline II pipe in OD 110 mm SDR 11 was chosen. This pipe is made out of high-grade crack resistant PE 100-RC material, which makes a sand bed around the pipe during the installation unnecessary. At the same time, pressurised branches from the main line to the houses were also installed – using Agru’s SurePex pipes, which were connected to the pressure tapping valves via electrofusion couplers. The high flexibility of the SurePex pipes, and their
high crack resistance, were the main reasons for using them, according to the Passau municipal authority.
