those of the base material, permit an optimised arrangement of the individual wear protection segments. ips Intelligent Pelletizing Solutions has
recently added underwater pelletisers to its existing product range of strand pelletisers. The company says that the ips-UWG 75 S and ips-UWG 120 S are suitable for the production of spherical pellets of thermoplastic materials for use in raw materials manufacture, masterbatch and compounding, as well as for recycling applications. The ips-UWG 75 S has a throughput range of 100-720 kg/h, depending on application and pellet dimensions, while the ips-UWG 120 S offers a maximum throughput of 2,500 kg/h. According to the company, the underwater pelletisers
are offered as complete pelletising systems, consisting of melt pump, screenchanger, polymer diverter valve, die plate with pelletising unit, process water system and pellet dryer. The system is controlled by graphic touch-user interface and automatic start-up and shut-down are by operation of a single button. The melt pump, screenchanger and the polymer diverter valve are manufactured by Trendelkamp Technologie GmbH. Advantages of the ips-UWG-S are claimed to include
simple operation and high process safety. The company says that the cutting chamber has a simple, manual single-hand locking system with additional automatic locking and safety monitoring and allows easy changing of the cutter hub. The pelletising unit is able to swivel, which offers easy access for operation and mainte- nance, and is located on a moveable machine base frame offering optimum accessibility underneath the polymer diverter valve.
The ips-UWG-S offers automatic pressure adjust- ment of the knives, process monitoring with automatic shut-down, as well as wear indication of the knives and display torque pelletiser drive. The pelletisers also have cartridge heater monitoring with position indication, agglomerate catcher with automatic ejection, and a pellet dryer with frequency-controlled ventilator and integrated water separator at the exhaust air outlet. The modular system allows application and customer-spe- cific arrangements.
