drying all sides of the strand before it is pelletised. Water removed by the dryer is contained within the unit’s vacuum tank and discharged to a drain using a maintenance free check valve (eliminating the safety hazards caused by water spills) while a filter-free system separates vacuumed water from air. BPM will also shortly introduce a new application specific pelletiser for production of micro pellets. The company’s Vice President Sales James A Forgash says the new machine is at the final design phase. It features

a 40% reduction in the distance between the feed roll nip point and the bed knife and cutter compared to standard pelletisers, which will ensure much improved control of the delicate micro strands to reduce scrap and increase production rates. He says the new design will also include new rotor technology that offers a greater number of cuts while reducing turbulence in the cutting chamber. Forgash says the company can now also supply its Model BP50 strand pelletiser for laboratory and light production duties from stock. He says the compact BP50 offers improved strand control, flexible discharge options, and ease of cleaning through tool-free access to the cutter. The machine features near vertical discharge to reduce wear and pellet deflection and can be configured for right-hand or left-hand drum discharge. ECON has also been developing pelletising systems

for the production of micro-pellets for high quality masterbatch and rotational moulding products, where micro-pellets offer better mixing properties, according to Sales Director Uwe Neumann. The company says its micro-pellet solutions use thermal insulation technol- ogy, which provides benefits in processing by preventing
