On 27 June, casing soil producer Topterra celebrated the 10th anniversary of its German branch HWW in Worpswede (see also page 30). Suppliers, German customers and colleagues were welcom to visit the new processing facility and take a train ride through the nearby Teufelsmoor (Devil’s Swamp), the location of the peat bog where Topterra extracts its basic material for casing. The little train is normally used to carry the excavated peat to the transloading station. Transporting peat from the bog by train is the best solution, as tractors and trailers would simply sink into the boggy ground. Photo: Uko Reinders
