fter many approaches from a variety of individuals and organisations concerning
RYA training in China, we achieved a major milestone this year with the granting of RYA recognition to Vanhang Sailing. This is the first RYA Recognised Training Centre in mainland China and is situated close to Shenzhen. Training will be undertaken only in English at this stage
but it is our hope that with the assistance of a partner in China we will soon have an appropriate range of translated RYA training publications to support the delivery of RYA dinghy and powerboat training in Mandarin. Given the interest expressed
to date and the number of Chinese nationals who have undertaken RYA Instructor training courses over the last year or so, we have no
doubt that China will evolve into an important and exciting location for those wishing to gain work instructing abroad. Already we have seen a growth in the number of opportunities available for UK expats in China as sailing clubs and commercial training centres look to further develop their offerings in the sail training arena. Exciting times indeed!
