PLANT & MACHINERY SAFETY | MINITEC

THE ART OF SIMPLICITY

MiniTec tell us more about their aluminium profile systems designed to make the workplace a safer place.

The profile systems manufactured by MiniTec have been in great demand because of the simplicity of the modular system which is supported by robust German engineering.

WORKPLACE SAFETY – TYPICAL APPLICATIONS The range of equipment that can be put together with MiniTec profiles is endless, but some of the major applications which contribute to safety in the workplace include:

• Machine guards. • Ergonomic workstations and assembly lines. • Specialist test enclosures. • Logistics operations – picking trolleys.

MiniTec Managing Director Gary Livingstone says that over 80% of orders built by MiniTec have a health and safety element, whether it is in relationship to guards for machinery and equipment, enclosures, ergonomics of workstations and assembly lines or potentially hazardous enclosures.

WHY CHOOSE

MINITEC? Aluminium profile building systems are common enough but the MiniTec approach is based on a very important feature which gives the company a unique edge on many other suppliers: keeping it simple in order to save time.

KEEPING IT SIMPLE At the heart of the MiniTec system is the unique Powerlock® fastening method which requires no specific preparation,

pre-machining or special tools and uses standard off-the- shelf fasteners. The use of standard M8 fasteners reduces the cost of the overall package of profiles and locking system considerably compared with many other systems which incorporate brand specific locking systems.

Thus the only tool required to set up or dismantle a system is an Allen Key.

MINITEC ICAD The intuitive online selection and design tool allows you to design the product/system of your choice by taking you through a series of steps to select dimensions/shape and design and other options such as workstation/desk top material.

Whether you choose to use your own expertise to design your equipment or use the full technical support service provided by the team at Basingstoke, where MiniTec are based, you can be sure that the very latest in design and selection tools are available to you.

APPY DAYS AT MINITEC A new app from MiniTec calculates the deflection of aluminium profile systems and linear slideways. It will calculate values for applications in both vertical and horizontal designs. The values for both load and length are stored until the application has been completed thus making a comparison of different profile systems quick and easy.

TYPICAL APPLICATION A well-known international manufacturer of Turbo systems has a manufacturing operation in the North of England where shafts are manufactured using multiple machining operations carried out on different machines.

Moving work in progress between operations and machines can be a real problem, especially if the parts cannot be simply and easily loaded onto transporters to move them between ops.
