AN ADVANCED APPROACH

Advanced tell us more about their offering and explain the best ways employers can keep their staff safe.

Advanced is a global leader in the design, development and manufacture of intelligent fire systems. Operating in over 60 countries, its systems are approved to the major international EN and UL standards, and a wide range of regional and local codes.

Advanced is renowned for the quality, performance and ease-of-use of its products, a reputation that sees them specified in some of the most prestigious and challenging sites worldwide. Recent installations include Western Europe’s tallest building, The Shard, Abu Dhabi International Airport and Westfield Sydney.

Advanced’s networking is best-in-class and allows its systems to scale from stand-alone single-loop panels to huge multi-loop, 200 panel networks covering huge areas with vast cause and effect options. Its device and peripheral range only adds to the flexibility on offer, with additional panel ranges offering extinguishing control, radio paging, conventional control and emergency light testing.

Systems can easily connect to building management systems or graphics stations and can be managed and monitored over the internet.

MxPro is the unbeatable multiprotocol fire panel from Advanced, widely specified in the UK and beyond. It offers more freedom to specifiers, end users and installers and includes two panel ranges, the flagship EN54-2, 4 & 13 approved MxPro 5 ,and the benchmark MxPro 4. Both come in 1-8 loop formats and are compatible with Apollo, Argus, Hochiki and Nittan protocols.

Overseas, Advanced supplies complete fire systems under its Axis brand. Suitable for both EN, UL and AS specifications, Axis systems include high performance devices including wireless options.

Across panel ranges, options and features include smoke control, synchronised audio and mass notification, touchscreen control and false alarm management.

Advanced’s false alarm reduction solution is AlarmCalm which provides total control over alarm verification periods and investigation delays to outputs. It allows a site to be divided into virtual false alarm management zones called Building Areas, which can have unique or grouped settings.

Verificaton of alarms is key. Once a signal is detected, AlarmCalm starts a programmable ‘stage one’ verification time. At the end of this time, if the signal is still present the system will go into full alarm. During this time the signal can be confirmed by mode or sensitivity change, for example an optical heat detector switching to heat to

TouchControl is another recent innovation available across Advanced’s fire systems. It is a 10” HD touchscreen repeater and remote control terminal. Its unique user interface facilitates detailed and easy network control and supports built-in graphics called Active Maps and zone plans. Active Maps allow any image to be used to define a zone, which are then easily added via software and uploaded via microSD card.

AdSpecials is a dedicated department within Advanced that works with customers to design and manufacture unique panels, enclosures and control interfaces for the company’s fire systems. This can range from simple colour coordination to fully bespoke panel housings that offer environemtal protection and specific control and indication.

Lux Intelligent is the smart emergency light testing and monitoring system from Advanced. It has been designed to offer its users multiple benefits, from installation through to usage and compliance. The system automatically tests the whole emergency lighting system to industry standards, giving live status reports on the user’s phone, computer or tablet. It’s even possible to share reports and maintenance data with relevant teams and send reports with once click. Lux Intelligent will work with almost any light or LED, including existing ones, simply by adding a small addressable module and Advanced can demonstrate the savings it delivers for building managers.

verify the signal, or by coincidence detection. If the signal clears the system resets to normal.

Advanced’s new intelligent, loop-powered Alarm Acknowledgement device, the AlarmCalm Button, can be used to manually verify if an alarm signal is false, for example from smoke as a result of cooking.
