CARING FOR CARPETS

Carpets, sofas and soft furnishings all help make a care home feel more like home, but it can be a challenge to keep them clean and hygienic.

Regular vacuuming to remove dust and dirt is a must for all carpets, rugs and upholstery, as these surfaces pick up the most wear and tear. However, according to Vax Commercial, vacuuming alone isn’t enough.

tailored for care providers who need to fi ll these spaces.”

Recommendations can also be left on the site to help others make a more informed decision, although, as Clare stresses, “nothing can ever take the place of visiting the care home itself – our website is just one of the fi rst stepping-stones”.

The site is offering a three-month free trial to all care homes in England and has pledged to donate 5% profi ts each year to charities for the elderly.

“Washing also helps to keep carpets more hygienic by removing odours, dust mites, mould, pollen and other allergens. All Vax Commercial’s carpet cleaners can also be used to suck up spills and small fl oods, meaning they’re ideal for quickly clearing up any accidents to prevent stains and odours from developing.”

When carpet cleaners are heavy and diffi cult to manoeuvre this can discourage regular use. Vax Commercial’s machines are designed to be easy to transport, use and store so it’s easier to use them more frequently.
