Hello everyone and welcome to issue four of Tomorrow’s Care.

According to the ONS, 79% of terminally ill patients would prefer to die at home, but only half of these people actually do. At the end of September, the Nuffi eld Trust released a report to fi nd out whether or not more investment in community-based care would help to grant more people’s wish to pass away at home and ease pressure on hospitals. Turn to page 22 to fi nd out what the industry makes of the report’s fi ndings.

Also in this month’s issue, we hear from Professor June Andrews at the Dementia Services Development Centre on why the use of sedatives in care homes needs to be brought under control and law fi rm, Moore Blatch gets us up to speed on how the NHS’s Personal Health Budgets impact on care providers.
