VISIONS OF VINYL

The interior world is constantly changing, with new trends and products continually being introduced. Here, luxury vinyl manufacturer Amtico outlines the latest trends in vinyl flooring and forecasts predictions for the material’s future.

The design team at Amtico scours the globe for inspiration; from colour combinations and compositions to unique shapes and materials, all of which enables them to produce exciting new palettes focusing on tone and texture.

This allows our team to continually curate and develop our own interpretation of the ever-growing trend for the use of grey within flooring. From cool tones, pearl shimmers and pewter effects, to elegant washed- wood options, grey continues to offer consumers a sophisticated alternative to more traditional floor colour choices.

Historically, retro and vintage flooring has always been popular with consumers and this will continue to be an enduring trend. Looking forward, we predict that purchasers will shift towards a higher- quality finish and invest in simple laying patterns as opposed to the traditional shabby-chic style.

combination of laying patterns so that consumers can create a floor that is unique to them. The premium finish will not only appeal to this trend, but also provide a hard-wearing surface for greater protection – particularly in high footfall areas within the home.

HOTTING UP In recent years, underfloor heating has shifted from being a luxury feature to being more commonplace in consumers’ homes.

We have seen a rise in the number of developers using underfloor heating systems generally, but specifically in highly populated urban projects where space is limited. Additionally, the minimalist aesthetics of a hidden heating system are preferable particularly for inner city apartments. As a result, all of the Amtico flooring ranges are specifically designed to be compatible with underfloor heating and can be heated to a comfortable 27˚C.

Last year it was estimated that around 200,000m2

of Amtico products were

installed over underfloor heating in the new homes sector alone.

PREPARATION IS KEY When it comes to installation, installing Amtico Design Tiles is straightforward and follows the same guidelines that apply to all quality, resilient tile floors. Good preparation is essential as the finished appearance of the floor will only be as good as the quality of the base and preparation over which it is installed. The base should be hard, smooth, clean and dry, and free from defects. The surfaces should be even in order to achieve good fitting and adhesion as any irregularities in the sub-floor will show through the finished floor.

STAYING AHEAD At Amtico, we are constantly evolving and improving our ranges; we have new products and laying patterns due to launch in our Signature range in June, as well as new Click and Loose lay ranges. We are continually innovating to satisfy our growing customer base and keep at the forefront of style and new technology.
