an excellent long-term investment. Furthermore, the Assura range offers a number of different designs, ensuring that the high levels of durability required didn’t mean that aesthetics had to be sacrificed. The project managers settled on a ‘Worn Concrete’ stone finish, which was laid in a tile pattern.
The flooring was fitted by a family-run company, Olivers Contracts.
Commenting on Amtico, Steve Lampkin, Owner of Olivers Contracts, said: “When we first examined the site, we knew the property would require highly durable flooring, as was apparent from the state of the concrete floor which had deteriorated considerably.
“After careful preparation of the sub layers, the Assura flooring was simple to lay and really helped to visually transform the space. And, given the extremely high footfall, I’m sure the Amtico will prove to be a great investment for the council building and look just as good in years to come.”
In addition to the main flooring, Amtico also supplied specific entrance matting. The Entryway collection was installed to ensure any soil, moisture and debris was removed – helping to preserve the

Assura’s appearance and further limit any slip hazards.
Project Manager at Islington Borough Council, Gareth Jenkins, said: “We wanted a high grip, long lasting product, without it looking too much like traditional safety flooring. The Amtico Assura range provides a clean and modern look and I am very pleased with the quality and appearance of the finished flooring.”
Gary Wills, of Amtico Flooring, was responsible for the project and was extremely pleased with the end result.
“We wanted a
high grip, long lasting product, without it looking too much like traditional safety flooring.”
Gary said: “This building provided some unique challenges for us as a manufacturer, especially as the Assura flooring covers such a large area. We had to ensure that all the flooring was created in the same batch in order to guarantee a consistent colour and shade match throughout but, as the product is made in the UK, we were able to carefully plan the lead times and delivery.
“Overall, this was a highly successful project, and one which demonstrated how well Amtico flooring can be integrated into a commercial property, without sacrificing on quality or aesthetics.”
