THINK BIG AT THE
ACADEMY The Academy for Excellence in Flooring has updated Master Installer course content to accommodate Quick-Step’s latest extra-wide and extra-long wood and laminate floors.
The Master Installer course has been refreshed to include the new formats of Majestic laminate and Massimo engineered wood, so that fitters can experience the floors first hand before encountering them on- site. With large planks a key trend in interiors for 2017, Quick-Step is already experiencing strong sales for these new collections and so it was natural for the over-size planks to be included in course content.
RECOFLOOR TO VISIT ALL ITS FLOORING DISTRIBUTORS THIS
SUMMER This summer, Recofloor is planning to visit all its participating flooring distributors across the UK to support them with the UK’s award-winning waste vinyl flooring recycling scheme founded by Polyflor and Altro.
The team will be gearing up for their Grand Flooring Distributor Tour following the annual Recofloor Awards 2017 event on 29 March. Celebrating members’ achievements, this year’s event will be held at the Kia Oval cricket ground in London.
During April and May, Recofloor will be contacting their 66 flooring distributor members to let them know when they’ll be in their area and to arrange a convenient time to visit. From June to September, the team will hit the road to offer Toolbox Talks at distributors’ premises as well as help with customer events, trade days and other promotional activities.
Recofloor Project Coordinator Carla Eslava commented: “This will be a great opportunity for flooring distributors to learn more about the benefits of Recofloor membership and how they and their customers can engage

Lee Thompson, technical manager, said: “It’s important that Master Installers leave the Academy versed in the latest Quick-Step innovations and so we’ve updated the course to include the unique fitting requirements of Massimo and Majestic. With the right techniques, fitting large format planks can be up to 30% faster than more conventional formats, but it does require adjusting conventional thinking. Installing Massimo and Majestic requires no tapping blocks or pull bars and trying to fit this way is slow, aggressive and you risk damaging the planks.”
Adapting course content to new product developments also helps Quick-Step to endorse all Master Installers through a two-year workmanship warranty no matter what the product, an important benefit that’s exclusive to qualified fitters. Along with a listing on the
quick-step.co.uk website, this helps
more with the scheme that can offer significant savings on disposal costs.
“Members are also welcome to book a morning event with the Recofloor team on site from trade counter opening until noon to explain the scheme to their customers. All with the usual Recofloor goodies of course. Just let us know by phone, email or via the website.
Carla added: “We are also happy to attend trade days, flooring shows or any promotional event to support your
Recofloor membership and commitment to waste vinyl flooring recycling.”
Recofloor has more than 700 collectors based across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland who benefit from a sustainable scheme that collects and recycles waste vinyl flooring. By recycling their smooth and safety vinyl offcuts and roll ends, uplifted smooth vinyl and luxury vinyl tiles (LVT), members can cut their disposal costs by up to 75%.
