joiner making windows and hanging doors for interior fit-outs for bars.

10 QUESTIONS WITH… Q7

What was your first job? My first real job was a bench

How did you get into the flooring industry?

I’ve been in the flooring industry since I was 19, so almost 24 years. I worked in the carpet retail industry for eight years and then got my first break as a sales rep covering Chester and North Wales for a Leyland company called Supertex Furnishing.

I was the north-west area sales manager for Carpets International/ Abingdon Flooring before joining Bostik in the floor prepping industry for over five years. I’ve been with Tilemaster since May 2015 and I’m loving it!

Q3 Q4

What do you think are the positives and

negatives of the flooring industry? The characters and camaraderie and the way people pull together to get a job done is the biggest positive. It’s a lifelong relationship.

For me, the negative is people under-selling really great quality flooring products.

If you could hire any one person to be part of your

team, who would it be and why? Can I say Cindy Crawford? She would bring a bit of glamour to this male- dominated industry.

Q5 Q6

If you won the lottery, what would be the first

thing you’d buy? The first thing would be a Ducati 1299 motorbike.

If you could have any super power, what

would it be and why? I’d like to be the invisible man. Then I could see what people really think about me and why.

If you could be one person for a day,

who would it be and why? Definitely, Valentio Rossi; I’d love to experience the adrenalin rush of racing motor bikes like he does.

Where would you like to be a fly on the wall?

Manchester Grammar School to hear what the kids think about the new sports hall flooring that we installed, with Premier Flooring Solutions, using our Tilemaster FineFow 3000 flooring product.

Q9

What would you like to see in a future issue of

Tomorrow’s Contract Floors? It would be useful to see more features promoting the system-sell on flooring products, for example DPMs, primers and screeds.
