“All of the different programs [at Grand Valley] are essential to a student’s success.”
GRAND VALLEY’S ANNUAL FUNDS
Annual funds are part of what makes Grand Valley State University’s tradition of a student centered education possible.
The Grand Valley Fund and the Laker Family Fund both help to meet student needs in any given year as they arise, making them the most flexible funds available for student support. The funds go directly to those areas of highest need. This includes areas like financial assistance, career services, internships, technology and equipment, and student support services. Our annual funds help provide the margin of excellence in the Grand Valley experience for students. A parent of a Grand Valley alumnus, Lisa
Childs-Wivo gives to the Laker Family Fund for personal reasons, “It is important for me to give back because GVSU contributed to my son’s life in so many ways.” Her son, Steven Childs, graduated with a degree in Physics in 2012 and now works as adjunct faculty in the Department of Physics at Grand Valley. The annual funds ensured that he
had access to the newest technology in his field and the internship and career services he needed to succeed.
Maalik McClinton, Class of 2016, also
benefited from the student support services at the university. He says, “All of the different programs [at Grand Valley] are essential to a student’s success.” Maalik credits his success as a Communications major to the academic and career counseling available to him thanks to both the Grand Valley Fund and the Laker Family Fund. Each student is unique, and the annual funds
at Grand Valley help to ensure that each need is met. These funds support programs that help to prepare students, so that, like Steven and Maalik, students can succeed at Grand Valley and beyond. To learn more about the impact of our annual funds on our students, visit online at
